About Us
The Thomas Jefferson Mighty Mustang Band has a rich history to the San Antonio and Monticello Park area.
Established in the spring of 1932, TJHS band is one of the oldest school marching bands in San Antonio. Countless student musicians have continued on as professionals in music performance, education, the arts, sciences, athletics, government, military branches, and as community leaders.
Our music library is one of the oldest in the city, consisting of timeless pieces for wind ensemble, jazz, football stand music, and military marches.
The Mighty Mustang Band has performed and competed at the highest levels in events such as the Battle of Flowers Fiesta Band Festival, the San Antonio Alamo City Tournament of Bands, UIL Region and Area Marching and Concert Contest, Fiesta Jazz Festival, Battle of Flowers Day Parade and Fiesta Night Parade. The Mustang band has been selected as a feature band for the Fiesta Battle of Bands four times, has received awards for Best 4A, 5A, and People's Choice overall winner. The Jazz Program has received awards at the oldest Jazz Festival in San Antonio as well as hosted the Monticello Art and St. Mary's jazz showcase.
Jefferson has been featured as a Disney Performing arts performer, they have marched at Disney World Magic Kingdom Parade of Bands twice and have been a YOSA invitational Performing Wind Ensemble.
The Mustang Band is an exciting band in the football stands, competitive on the marching field, expressive on stage, grooving in the jazz hall, and a powerhouse on the parade route.
